All right, everyone. I need your help. It's going to be hot, hazy, and humid today -- actually, it already is -- which means that I will not be spending any more time outside than is absolutely necessary. I am leaving for Pilates (I'm so trendy!) soon, and on my way back from that session, I am going to slither over to the video place and pick up something to watch. I want two movies. Or films. Flicks. Whatever.
Any suggestions? (And no, no hilarious comments about porn. Don't be so predictable.)
You have ... 43 minutes.
Go!

OK, kidz. I know you've all put your lives on hold and have even decided to eat your lunch at your desks today, in anticipation of my selections. I chose the following:
1. Run Lola Run - I had this on my list before Anne suggested it.
2. Requiem for a Dream - Suggested the other day by my friend Christine.
3. Strange Bedfellows - Suggested by no one.
Alan's Alley (the video place) has a "3 for 2" special on Wednesdays, as I found out when I got there. The tapes (yeah, tapes, I'm not cutting edge enough to have a DVD player yet) are due on Friday, rather than tomorrow (as is usually the case).
There was a gaggle of giggling teenaged girls there arguing over a "Mary Kate and Ashley" movie. One of them said that the twins are "the bomb", and one of them said she wouldn't allow Mary Kate and Ashley in her house so the other girls would have to watch it elsewhere. It was semi-funny, but also hideously annoying. (It was, of course, one of those "you had to be there" things.)
Thanks for all of your suggestions.
I have three packets of popcorn and a fresh new package of Crystal Light (yellow lemonade). Let the excitement begin!

Offered by: Simply Sara on June 26, 2002 1:28 PMSo what'd you decide on?
Offered by: aaron on June 26, 2002 1:18 PMMay I suggest, "Elvis - The Alternate Aloha Concert"?
Sure, you've probably seen the ACTUAL concert, but have you ever seen the rehearsal before the actual show that was watched by more people than watched the first walk on the moon?
Outside of that, "Corky Romano" without question.
Offered by: Tess on June 26, 2002 10:43 AMElection, Roger and Me, Road to Wellsville.
Offered by: Anita on June 26, 2002 10:41 AMMy All-Time Favorite Movie List:
Lawrence of Arabia
Tommy
UHF
Pokemon The Movie: 2000
Dogma
I would highly reccomend against getting any of these.
Offered by: aaron on June 26, 2002 10:38 AMI suggest "the Others" also. I saw it last week, and was hesitant because it has Nicole Kidman in it, but, I was hiding behind my pillow less than half-way through it! What a good movie!
Also:
Pi
the Usual Suspects
the Long Kiss Goodnight
*Run Lola Run---is a great foreign flick!!! great!!
Offered by: anne on June 26, 2002 10:21 AMI have to try to be helpful here, because I feel guilty about flaking out today. Yes, yes. I know I shouldn't feel guilty, but that's me.
The Princess Bride - A delightful fairy tale about true love. Simply one of the best movies ever made, in my not so humble opinion.
The Others - Creepy, creepy, creepy! Without being icky, violent, gross, or overt, this movie managed to send chills up my spine.
Offered by: Kim on June 26, 2002 10:13 AMHmm... how about:
15 Minutes
A Beautiful Mind
Meet The Parents
Fight Club
Analyze This
American History X
Just a few off the top of my mind...
