Dia bom, Brasil!

brasil.jpg

Boa vinda, a todos meus leitores faladores de Portugeuse!

Several Brazilian readers have translated my stuff into Portugeuse. Even though I don't think it's difficult to do, I must say I'm very flattered that people take the time to do it.

The above is an entry from yesterday. I love the title: "Hoover? Nada!" is the translation for "Hoover? Damn!" And I'm actually chortling over "fresco-cozido".

But my favorite part is my site's name: Porque Eu Digo Assim!

("Jodiverse", by the way, doesn't translate.)

Clarissa: Of course the translation was done by machine. The ridiculous thing is that I know that it's "Bom dia" because I was in Portugal and said it quite a few times during my visit. I should've trusted myself instead of the translator I used.

You may very well be my Brazilian counterpart. Our IP addresses are so alike, I actually did a double take. I thought maybe one of my multiple personalities played a trick on me. But no, not this time.

As a fellow wandering jew, but from Brazil and living now - and hopefully for a long time - in NY, I have to tell you that this Portuguese looks to me as translated by "machine"...
It's "Bom Dia, Brasil" and fresh baked would be "saiu do forno às".
And so on and so forth...
Anyway, I read your blog frequently and like it a lot.

I've been getting the same thing in my logs. :)

I believe that it can be described as "The Jodiverse is Jodinational".

I even introduced the Jodiverse to two groups of primative natives I found in Northern Michigan; The "Canadians" and the "Yoopers". I learned their intricate and beautiful dialect (Ya need some WD-40 awn thet squeeki dawer, wah hey?) and customs (beer is a beverage suitable for all meals and all ages).

I'm happy to be home. Even if, and because, it's not NYC.
