Damsel in Distress

The damsel? Yeah. That'd be "yours truly" (uggh, how I hate that).

The distress? (See below.)

This plea for help goes out to anyone who has Movable Type and knows how it all works. I posted this on the Technical Support/General Problems board, but no one has responded yet. I am impatient, and I want help now.

Here is the challenging question I posed in the forum:

Everything was just groovy until sometime last night when all of a sudden ... POOF! ... I stopped receiving email notification whenever I received a new comment on my fabulous site.

A friend of mine checked my MT paths and all that jazz (you will note that I am not "techy"), and said that everything is configured properly. Still, no email notification.

There is nothing wrong with my email otherwise; I'm receiving outside email juuuust fiiiine. But the MT stuff? Nyet.

Can anyone help me?

So ... can any of you help a poor delicate flower in her time of need?

Problem resolved (knock wood) as of this afternoon.

Hurrah!

I have a question about setting the template for a variety of resolutions. Can anyone help me with that? Jodi, I can view your site perfectly with my wimpy 800x600. My new site, though, is set for optimal viewing at 1024x768. How do I change that??? And, how do I get my archives from Blogger(ick!) to MT?

I am terrible with following directions on a simple website. However, an email with directions will produce wonderful results.

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions. Nothing is working.

Zuly, this has happened before, and, like with your situation, has mysteriously resumed normal operation just as quickly as it stopped.

Oy! I just want to eat my apple slices and honey without any bother!

I don't use MT, but I do use other software that offers email notification. There are times when my mail server, for some reason, doesn't allow the external application to "log in" to my email account to send the message.

The problem always seems to clear up on its own, telling me that the problem lies with the mail server, not the application trying to send the mail.

Jodi, wish I could help. The same thing happened to me the other day, then it started working again as mysteriously as it stopped. Grrr.
