Yes, at long last, it's here. Friday. You need something more than just the pedestrian cup of coffee. You need cappuccino! And you need it served a gorgeous cup and saucer. (Yes, even the more macho among you could do with a little aesthetics from time to time.) So here you are.

As you indulge in this creamy concoction, you may wish to recall the model wannabe poseur loseur who slunk into my old place of employment oh so many years ago.
Just make sure you don't gulp it down as if it were the swill that your less fortunate co-workers are throwing down their gullets like so much bad medicine. Indulge it, and yourself. And when they rush by your desk with their crappy coffee in styrofoam cups that's burning their hands, witness you luxuriously indulging in the finest of beverages in the most gorgeous of cups, and scoff at your elegance (jealous bitches, all of 'em!), offer them a hearty, passionate "È Venerdì!" ("It's Friday!").
Enjoy!
fresh-baked at 08:55 AMLori, you must be thinking of someone else. I'm not a secretary! And I can barely make regular coffee! :-O
Offered by: Jodi on October 4, 2002 3:57 PMShould you tire of NYC and wish to return to suburbia, I could use the best legal secretary in the universe, particularly if she is accompanied by such a lovely cup o' cappu.
Offered by: lori on October 4, 2002 3:44 PMI've got a weekend gig, Max, at Starbucks. And matters not if you ask me for a latte or a cap... I'll be behind the bar making my "Ah, that's perfect" faces so that you think you've got an expert painstakingly creating your very own frothy scrumptiousness. Really I just make the espresso shots (should be between 18 and 21 seconds but you often get my 9 second shots or my 30 second shots... I'm BUSY!)
Then I just dump the milk in any way I want, slip the lid on and there you are!
Me, your friendly Barista: Double tall latte is up!
You: I ordered a cappucino.
Me: Yep, there you go!
OK, so I checked out your previous stuff about working in that restaurant. Was that you providing the sound bite? Or was it Tyne Daly, back in her Cagney & Lacey days?
"Harvey Jnr... drink your dooooy-it co o ook"
Offered by: Max on October 4, 2002 11:48 AMJust as I am sitting down to drink my cappucino, there is one on your blog. BTW, yours looks better than mine. Great foam! I think, I need a new man servant...
Offered by: Sally on October 4, 2002 11:42 AMBellissimo!
It reminds me of a post by Christian Finnegan, quite recently, ranting about lattés, and how places keep giving him lattés with foam on the top.
I was left thinking that that was how I'd always been serverd lattes. So in a effort to clear things up, I found:
And from the UK, this succinct and amusing description - see second paragraph down.
Offered by: Max on October 4, 2002 11:40 AMI swear to God, that cup and plate looks like they're made only out of a cookie. Damn, that would be nice.
Cappucino, in a cookie cup, served on a cookie platter.
Preferably served by Cookie, the lovable sidekick on the Bozo show.
I want me some baked goods.
Offered by: leo on October 4, 2002 11:39 AMNow, if that cuppa cappu is an actual taken-from-the-house-of-Jodi production, and the foam was heart-shaped by that lovely man who serves you bowls of fruit on Sundays, be forewarned I am coming down and moving in with you ;)
Offered by: Nancy on October 4, 2002 11:15 AMThe perfect accompaniment for some of these or these.
Offered by: Mad Genius on October 4, 2002 10:06 AMAnd you can see from the swirls on the top it's made with love... Aww...
Personally, I cannot enjoy any beverage that is created by soaking beans until the water is tainted sufficently. Coffee, cappuccino, expresso, any of it. The smell reminds me of my father swilling it by the carafe as he chain smoked and still reeked from his booze binges the nights before. Add the smells of burnt bacon, undercooked eggs and liberal amounts of flatulence and you'd have Sunday dinner at the familial home.
I have to finish my Red Bull and SlimFast bar now.
Offered by: Thomas on October 4, 2002 9:53 AMNot only is it a little piece of Italy in a cup, the foam is heart-shaped! Mmmmm!
Offered by: Suzy on October 4, 2002 9:44 AMThat looks divine, Jodi! Don't mind if I do.
