Many of you may not know this, but I was a huge internet presence in 1997! That was so long ago that many of you were probably not even born yet!
If you don't believe me, check it out here.
I'd tell you to ignore the frightening background and other garbage, but you just can't.
And yes, the bad design (frames, et al.) was on purpose.
Enjoy!
fresh-baked at 02:10 PMOwww! My eyes! Make it stop Mummy!
I resisted having a homepage back then, if only because I spent my days (back then I had a job) designing web pages at work, and hating it.
My first homepage in 1999, whilst using muted colours, not only tortured visitors with frames, but had a "Cheesy Tune of the Month" - whereby I'd assault readers with the worst renditions of incredibly naff tunes, in sparkling MIDI format (a wav or mp3 wouldn't have been cheesy enough).
Some examples:
The Muppet Show Theme
I Think We're Alone Now (the definitive Tiffany version)
The Professionals theme (1970's UK cop show, a-la Starsky and Hutch, but with crappier weather, and a less powerful car).
Let's all get our late bloomers back on and move on from here. Nostalgia is getting old-fashioned.
Offered by: Don on November 17, 2002 11:05 PMI wish I had saved all my old stuff.....from a few years ago. I was a late bloomer and didn't know a damn thing! Still don't, but that's beside the point, right?
Offered by: Joan on November 17, 2002 7:29 PMYou know, back in 1997, this wouldn't have been all that bad, y'know. At least it shows you knew how to code.
My first page, back in 96, is lost forever. But had had a wood paneling background, and you can just imaging how many fonts look good on THAT.
Offered by: Jody on November 17, 2002 4:32 PMHa! I discovered this a while ago during an archeological excavation! Dig the colors...and the Pez Page...and the graphics. Thanks to that ancient page, I can also curse fluently in Swedish! Den kåte jäveln skulle kunna knulla sin egen syster!
Offered by: Mad Genius on November 17, 2002 4:19 PMIf I had my old Macintosh, I would be able to show you my web site from 1996. But the computer is in the hands of a person who no longer talks to me, so my point is moot, as best.
You used the word “kidz”. Ha ha ha.
