Here's a little something that irritates me. It doesn't make me want to smack someone (shock!), but just give a little plink (my word for the flicking of the index finger, propelled by the thumb on the same hand) to the "perp":
When someone gives birth, there is no need to say she had a “baby boy” or “baby girl”. "Boy" or "girl" will suffice. Because, really, what else is the little one going to be but a baby? Unless you’re Mork and Mindy, you’re not giving birth to an adult. Right? Right.
Please make a note of it.
I love that Charles Addams cartoon in which the doctor is handing the bundle to the mother and the caption reads, "Congratulations! It's a BABY!"
